Retail Store Assistant (with Keyholder Responsibility)

  • Hourly Rate: £11.44 per hour
  • Reports to: Shop Manager
  • Department: Trading
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Hours: Part-time, 6 hours per week – Sundays only
  • Location: Hemel Hempstead
  • Closing Date: 1st December 2024, 23:55

We’re looking for a motivated Retail Assistant to join our trading team. As an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, you’ll take on keyholder responsibilities and oversee the shop on Sundays.

In this lively and vibrant environment, you’ll discover something new every day—whether it’s a new fashion trend, a local community connection, or an untapped personal talent.

You’ll also work alongside people just as dedicated to beating cancer as you are.


Your Role

  • Overseeing the shop’s operations on Sundays, including keyholder responsibilities (full training provided) and supporting a talented team of volunteers.
  • Assisting the shop team in achieving sales and fundraising targets.
  • Reviewing and processing donated goods and new stock.
  • Developing creative ideas to generate additional income, with guidance from the Shop Manager.
  • Using customer service skills to ensure customers and supporters feel valued and welcomed.
  • Maintaining shop standards regarding compliance, safeguarding, and health and safety.

What We’re Looking For

  • A good understanding of what makes excellent customer service.
  • Experience working in a lively, dynamic environment.
  • Adaptability in changing situations, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Ideally, experience in retail or an understanding of the fashion industry.
