Retail Assistant Manager

  • Salary: £12.07 – £14.06
  • Reports to: Shop Manager
  • Department: Trading
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Working Hours: Part-time, 15 hours per week
  • Location: Tenby

We’re on the hunt for a motivated Assistant Shop Manager to join our trading team. In this role, you’ll act as an ambassador for Cancer Research UK, working closely with the Shop Manager and team to maximise income through people, resources, and stock.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Supporting the Shop Manager to lead, inspire, and engage a diverse team of paid staff and volunteers.
  • Assisting with the commercial operations of the store, including stock management, shop standards, merchandising, store layout, and income generation.
  • Delivering excellent customer and supporter service by leading by example.
  • Helping the Shop Manager achieve targets related to donated stock, cash, gift aid, average selling price, stock turnover, and stock processing.
  • Building strong relationships within the local community and with Cancer Research UK colleagues.
  • Supporting the Shop Manager in organising and executing creative fundraising events to achieve store fundraising goals.
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety, safeguarding, security, administration, and HR policies.
  • Stepping in to deputise for the Shop Manager when they are absent.

What Skills Do You Need?

  • A solid understanding of what makes for exceptional customer service.
  • Experience working in a lively and dynamic environment.
  • The ability to adapt to changing situations and work effectively on your own when needed.
  • Strong commercial awareness.
  • Great communication skills and the ability to build relationships.
  • Ideally, supervisory experience and a background in, or knowledge of, retail and fashion.
