Medical Receptionist / Administrator – Temporary to Permanent
Immediate Start | £13.68 per hour
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a friendly and well-established GP practice in the South Shields area and surrounding locations. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Medical Receptionist or Administrator to join the team on a full-time, ongoing temporary basis, with the potential for a permanent position following a successful trial period.
The ideal candidate will be confident, organised, and able to start immediately. Previous experience working within a GP practice and a good working knowledge of EMIS or SystmOne are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome patients and visitors in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner
Manage appointment bookings and maintain an accurate and efficient diary system
Answer telephone calls, emails, and general enquiries promptly and appropriately
Maintain accurate patient records in line with confidentiality and data protection standards
Process patient registrations, insurance forms, and relevant documentation
Support day-to-day administrative duties including filing, scanning, and data entry
Liaise with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow and effective service delivery
Essential Requirements
Previous experience working as a Medical Receptionist or within a GP practice
Strong working knowledge of EMIS or SystmOne
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
Confident IT skills and experience using electronic patient record systems
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment
