Laboratory Technician – Beverage Development
6-Month Contract (Potential Extension)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Stourport
Pay Rate: £14.16 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to support a busy Beverage Development team based in Stourport. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with laboratory or food and drink industry experience to contribute to innovative product development within a well-established organisation.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting beverage development projects, ensuring high-quality samples are produced and delivered on time, while also contributing to ongoing research, documentation, and laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

Sample & Project Support

  • Assist the Beverage Development Technologist and Master Cider Maker in preparing beverage samples according to defined formulations
  • Support supermarket benchmarking and comparative product research
  • Package and dispatch samples to customers in line with project timelines

Research & Documentation

  • Carry out longer-term research and development projects
  • Compile technical and scientific reports as required
  • Support the creation and review of SOPs and risk assessments to ensure compliance

Laboratory Operations

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, consumables, ingredients, and packaging materials
  • Ensure efficient day-to-day lab operations through effective stock control
  • Operate pilot plant equipment when required
  • Conduct analytical and sensory testing on beverage products

Administrative & Cross-Functional Support

  • Maintain accurate records and assist with internal audits where required
  • Communicate professionally with internal teams, customers, and external partners
  • Provide general administrative support to ensure smooth departmental operations

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous laboratory experience, ideally within food or beverage manufacturing
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • Confident computer skills and familiarity with laboratory documentation systems
  • Professional communication skills, including telephone and written communication
  • Understanding of administrative processes and customer service principles

This role would suit candidates with experience as a Laboratory Technician, QA Technician, Food or Beverage Technician, NPD Support Technician, or Laboratory Assistant.
