Assistant Accountant / Finance Co-ordinator

Location: Stonehouse, Gloucestershire (On-site)
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 per annum

About the Role

We are recruiting an Assistant Accountant / Finance Co-ordinator to join a growing international business based in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. This is a hands-on and varied role within a close-knit finance team, reporting directly to the Financial Director.

The position is ideal for an AAT, ACCA, or CIMA studier, or a finance professional qualified by experience, who is looking to broaden their exposure across core accounting activities while adding real value to the business. Training will be provided, but a solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Financial Director with monthly management accounts, including balance sheet and profitability reporting

  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records

  • Process monthly payroll and related reconciliations

  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities

  • Support year-end audit preparation and coordination

  • Contribute to finance process improvement initiatives

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders

  • Investigate and resolve financial discrepancies to improve accuracy and controls

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a similar assistant accountant or finance support role

  • AAT qualified or studying towards AAT / ACCA / CIMA (or qualified by experience)

  • Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping

  • Strong numeracy skills and high attention to detail

  • Experience using financial systems and strong Excel skills

  • Well organised, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a growing business

  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is desirable but not essential
