SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator)

About this Role

Maritime Academy in Rochester is seeking an experienced SENCO to join the Leadership Team at this state-of-the-art academy, part of the TSAT Trust family.

As SENCO you will play a key role in shaping and delivering the academy’s SEND provision, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
– Determine and lead the strategic development of SEND policy and provision
– Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team and staff to ensure the best outcomes for students with SEND
– Take responsibility for day-to-day operation of the SEND policy, coordinating tailored support for individual students
– Provide professional guidance to colleagues and work closely with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies
– Ensure full compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
– Act as the Designated Teacher for Children in Care (CiC)

Requirements:
– Qualified teacher with a passion for supporting students with SEND
– Hold (or be willing to obtain) the National Award for SEN Coordination
– Strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practice
– Strong leadership skills with ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents/carers and external professionals
