About this Role
The National Theatre is looking for a Lighting Resources Technician to join its Lighting Team in London. The role involves supporting planned maintenance work and ensuring compliance with current safety and electrical regulations for all equipment, including in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment. You will keep the Lighting Resources Department databases up to date so equipment is logged, tracked and test results correctly recorded. Working alongside the Lighting Resources Supervisors and Manager, you will provide technical support for events and architectural lighting systems across the National Theatre, including foyers, exterior areas and the NT Studios, as well as production lighting, dimming, networking and data distribution systems across the three theatres and other spaces. Candidates will need considerable experience in a lighting department within professional theatre or a similar professional lighting environment, the ability to systematically diagnose and rectify faults on lighting equipment and control systems, a good working knowledge of electrical practice and theory, and industry-recognised certificates in rigging, working at height, health and safety and electrical awareness (or a willingness to train towards them). Experience of lighting desk operation in a live environment, ideally with ETC or Avolites products, is desirable — training will be provided.
