About this Role
The BBC’s Corporate Digital & Applications team builds the internal tools, mobile apps and services that BBC colleagues rely on every day, including the flagship newsgathering app that lets journalists send pictures and sound back to any BBC base from anywhere in the world. As a Junior iOS Engineer you will help shape, design, build and maintain these iPhone apps. Day to day you will collaborate on designing, developing, testing and releasing well-engineered code, work closely with the product team, write automated tests, troubleshoot issues and take part in pairing, code reviews, agile planning and continuous delivery. Essential experience includes writing iOS apps in Xcode, Swift, SwiftUI and SwiftData, object-oriented programming and consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs. A feel for UI/UX design, mobile accessibility standards, UIKit and package managers such as CocoaPods or Swift Package Manager are desirable. Based at any BBC UK base (Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, London, Newcastle or Salford) or remote.
