Events and Business Development Manager

About this Role

The Museum of the Order of St John is seeking an ambitious, commercially minded Events and Business Development Manager to lead the growth of its venue hire business in the historic heart of Clerkenwell. St John Ambulance’s Grade I listed venues — St John’s Gate and the Priory Church — host weddings, corporate events, conferences, private functions and filming. The postholder will lead and inspire a high-performing events team, develop and deliver the Events Business Plan, identify new commercial opportunities and achieve ambitious income targets, while overseeing the end-to-end client journey and building lasting relationships with clients, partners and suppliers. Candidates will need proven experience leading a successful events or commercial sales team with a strong track record of growing income, strong commercial and strategic acumen including budget planning, excellent relationship-building and negotiation skills, and confidence with Microsoft Office 365 and CRM systems. Income generated supports the charity’s lifesaving first aid mission and the preservation of its heritage estate, museum and collections.
