About this Role
We’re looking for an experienced Project Conservator to join the Collections Conservation and Care team and help deliver Nature + Love, a landmark National Heritage Lottery Fund project at the Horniman Museum and Gardens.
The Horniman Museum and Gardens is a unique attraction in south east London where world cultures and the natural world are brought together. The Museum holds internationally important collections of anthropology and musical instruments, as well as a natural history gallery and Aquarium.
You will join the Collections Conservation and Care team to deliver the conservation programme for Nature + Love — a once-in-a-generation transformation project. This NLHF project will modernise the 60-year-old interpretation in the Natural History Gallery and play an essential role in strengthening the social, economic and green recovery of both the Horniman and its local community.
Key responsibilities:
– Assess, conserve and prepare objects for the new permanent display of Natural Sciences collections
– Support the object install for the new permanent display
– Work with the multi-disciplinary project team to maintain and develop environmental and physical care of collections
– Ensure preservation of collections for the future benefit of the public
Closing date: 9am on Tuesday 07 July 2026. Interviews will be held in the week of 20 July 2026.
