Role Summary
NELFT is seeking to recruit a Community Child and Adolescent Consultant Psychiatrist to join their Medway CAMHS Community Team. The position is based at Unit 1, The Courtyard, Campus Way, Gillingham Business Park, Gillingham, Kent (ME8 0NZ). The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide mental health care to children and adolescents in the Medway area.
This is a substantive full-time role requiring a commitment to 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), split between Direct Clinical Care (7.5 PAs) and Supporting Professional Activities (2.5 PAs). The role includes participation in an on-call rota with a frequency of 1:14, classified as Category A, which attracts a 3% on-call salary supplement.

Qualifications and Essential Criteria
To be eligible for this role, candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Registration & Licensing:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a valid licence to practise in the UK.
- Inclusion on or eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register within six months of achieving the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST).
- Clinical Qualifications:
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it.
- Approved Clinician (AC) status or eligibility for it.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Comprehensive understanding of recent developments in mental health care.
- Strong teamworking and collaborative skills.
- A passion for innovation and delivering high-quality child and adolescent mental health services.
- Experience:
- Substantial experience in child and adolescent psychiatry within a multidisciplinary framework.
Main Responsibilities
The consultant psychiatrist will:
- Provide senior clinical leadership and support to the Medway CAMHS team.
- Work directly with children, adolescents, and families to deliver high-quality mental health care.
- Collaborate with external CAMHS providers, acute hospitals, and other health and social care professionals.
- Play an integral role in shaping the future direction of services and treatment models in the area.
- Participate in the on-call rota and provide clinical guidance when required.
- Support peers and team leaders while promoting a collaborative and inclusive working environment.

Person Specification
Candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
- Knowledge:
- Approved Clinician status or eligibility for it.
- Experience:
- Inclusion in, or eligibility for, the Specialist Register within six months of obtaining the CCST.
- Qualifications:
- Full GMC registration and licence to practise.
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
- Section 12 Approval or eligibility.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975 (Exceptions Order). Candidates must disclose any prior criminal convictions as part of the application process.
Additional Information for Overseas Applicants
