About Cancer Research UK
Our mission is to defeat cancer.

Last year, Cancer Research UK’s Philanthropy team generated around £40 million to support lifesaving research. This included £18 million raised by our Francis Crick team. We’re now seeking a Finance, Reporting, and Governance Senior Executive to support this critical work.

This role involves managing income and expenditure processing, allocation, and tracking to ensure the success of the Crick Philanthropy programme. You’ll also provide governance and reporting support, working closely with business partners from Crick and Cancer Research UK (CRUK).

Whether your background is in finance, compliance, project management, or account management, you could be an excellent fit. Financial qualifications or governance experience are not mandatory, but experience in corporate, charity, or public sector finance, along with strong attention to detail and familiarity with financial systems (e.g., Oracle or SAP), will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: Ensure effective processing, allocation, and tracking of income and expenditure to support Crick Philanthropy’s success.
  • Governance and Reporting: Oversee governance, reporting, and due diligence processes for various committees, including the Science Management Committee and Executive Committee.
  • Grant Management: Manage the Crick grant awarding process, ensuring proper sign-off and payment of CRUK gifts to the Crick.
  • Budget Oversight: Coordinate the Crick Philanthropy Team’s budget and compile monthly finance reports in collaboration with Crick finance teams.
  • Gift Processing: Handle transformational gift draw-down plans and ensure accurate reporting.
  • Proposal Development: Collaborate with the Donor Relations Manager to create proposals and financial breakdowns for gifts granted via AFCR.

What We’re Looking For

  • Financial Expertise: Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
  • Systems Knowledge: Proficiency with financial tools such as Excel, SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain complex financial and governance concepts.
  • Stakeholder Management: Effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of precision in financial and governance activities to ensure compliance and minimize risks.
  • Governance Experience (Optional): Familiarity with governance policies and frameworks is a plus, but not essential.

Our Values

Our organizational values guide our actions:

  • Bold: Demonstrate ambition, courage, and determination.
  • Credible: Work with professionalism and rigor.
  • Human: Strive to positively impact people.
  • Together: Foster inclusivity and collaboration.

We’re seeking individuals who embody these values and are committed to advancing our mission to beat cancer.
