Senior Business Analyst
- Salary: £46,000 – £55,000 (+ Benefits)
- Reports to: Lead Business Analyst

- Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week
- Location: Stratford, London. Flexible working (1-2 days per week in the office).

As a Senior Business Analyst, you’ll work within a technology portfolio, delivering large and complex projects while rotating across various products. This includes accurately capturing and validating requirements, identifying impactful solutions, and providing analysis expertise to shape and deliver technical solutions. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders across all levels to ensure alignment with the charity’s technology needs and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver large, complex projects within a product portfolio, creating innovative and adaptable business solutions while driving efficiencies and leveraging shared capabilities.
- Provide business analysis expertise to enable technical transformation across multiple workstreams and products.
- Assess the bigger picture to manage priorities, identify dependencies, and mitigate risks.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels to identify and evaluate solutions and process improvements that meet business objectives and provide optimal cost-benefit balance.
- Develop a thorough understanding of specific business areas and their strategies to influence decisions effectively.
- Maintain awareness of Cancer Research UK’s technology capabilities, processes, and services.
- Stay updated on emerging technologies to ensure solutions are compatible and existing capabilities are reused where appropriate.
- Contribute to investment appraisals and decision-making to ensure solutions deliver maximum value to the organisation.
- Gather, understand, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements.
- Analyse existing processes to identify strengths and weaknesses, recommend improvements, and provide constructive challenges where necessary.
- Translate business requirements into Agile epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure requirements are clearly documented for developers, testers, and other project team members, tailored to the project methodology (e.g., Agile).
- Partner with teams across the organisation to align requirements, information architecture, and user experience.
- Provide analysis expertise and leadership throughout project lifecycles.
- Support the delivery of large, complex projects by developing practical solutions that add value to the organisation.
- Share expertise and best practices, contribute to toolkits, and support the business analyst community and process owners.
- Assist with test scenarios, scripts, and execution, working with customers and colleagues to ensure changes are thoroughly tested and accepted.
- Create relevant guidelines and user guides as needed.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Business Owners to track progress, develop plans, prioritise work, and document projects effectively.
- Define KPIs/SLAs to monitor process effectiveness and enhance efficiency.
What Skills Will I Need?
- Experienced Business Analyst with a background in medium to large multi-product organisations or IT consultancies.
- Skilled in managing multiple workstreams/products, with the ability to handle complexity and identify dependencies and risks.
- Expertise in business analysis techniques, including workshop design and facilitation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to understand needs and influence decision-making at all levels.
- Advanced knowledge of process and data modelling, as well as process improvement.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to break down complex challenges and create effective solutions.
- Commercially aware, with a clear understanding of Cancer Research UK’s mission and the role of Delivery teams in achieving it.
