About this Role
DEFRA is seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to join the Agri-Climate Mitigation team to contribute to delivering the UK’s net zero ambitions. You will lead discrete policy workstreams to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture while maintaining a productive farming sector. Responsibilities include leading policy workstreams on agricultural GHG reduction, supporting policy interventions drawing on evidence and stakeholder insight, drafting ministerial submissions, working across government (Defra, DESNZ, HM Treasury), and building relationships with farmers, industry bodies, NGOs and researchers. The role sits at the intersection of climate, food and farming policy and requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and experience in food, farming and/or climate policy.
