About this Role

As one of BBC Verify’s specialist data journalists, you will find and tell stories using data — from quick-turnaround data visualisation of new statistics to collaborations on original stories and longer-term exclusive investigations. You’ll delve beneath headline figures and explain the fuller picture to audiences and colleagues. Responsibilities include contributing to award-winning data journalism projects across BBC platforms, developing content for digital, social, TV and radio, collaborating with journalists, correspondents, designers and engineers, and producing data-driven interactives and visualisations. Essential skills include experience in a dedicated data journalist role, understanding of statistics, ability to clean, parse and query data using R and Excel, and experience visualising data using tools like Flourish or Datawrapper.
