About this Role
BBC Local is looking for an experienced journalist and social media storyteller to create original content across social and digital platforms. You’ll use social listening, audience insight and strong news judgement to identify appealing untold local stories, spot emerging trends and turn them into engaging content that reaches audiences who don’t typically consume local news through traditional broadcast channels. Responsibilities include finding and developing original local stories, scripting, filming, producing and editing video content for social media, repurposing content from BBC News, BBC Look East and BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, and using analytics to determine the most effective formats and platforms. Essential criteria include an NCTJ qualification or equivalent (or at least two years professional experience in news content), experience creating content for digital and social platforms, strong news judgement, and experience using video editing software such as Final Cut Pro or Descript.
