Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a passionate and dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist to join the General Adult Intensive Outreach Team. This role, based at Fieldhead Business Centre in Bradford, offers the chance to work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive, community-focused mental health service tailored to the needs of the local population.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct assessments for newly referred patients and actively participate in their formulation meetings.
  • Provide medical reviews for patients as agreed upon during multidisciplinary meetings.
  • Participate in daily huddle meetings and attend weekly team and leadership meetings.
  • Carry out home visits when necessary, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Attend multidisciplinary case review meetings as scheduled.
  • Participate in various management and academic meetings, including:
    • Monthly Medical Council meetings.
    • Monthly Community Consultants meetings.
    • Quarterly Peer Group meetings.
    • Monthly Team Quality & Safety meetings.
  • Offer advice and support to General Practitioners (GPs), liaison teams, and hospitals, with occasional hospital visits as required.
  • Prepare reports and attend mental health tribunals for patients under Community Treatment Orders or subject to Section 37/41 of the Mental Health Act 1983.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Adult Psychiatry or equivalent, with applicants within six months of attainment eligible to apply.
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for inclusion.
  • Section 12 (2) approval under the Mental Health Act 1983 and Approved Clinician status.
  • Demonstrable experience in General Adult Psychiatry, including excellent clinical skills utilizing a bio-psycho-social approach.
  • Experience sufficient to qualify as a recognized trainer by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
  • Evidence of involvement in medical audits, with a sound understanding of clinical governance principles.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent.
  • Additional qualifications such as MD or MSc.
  • Experience with teaching or research, including conference presentations or involvement in service development projects.

Other Requirements:

  • Strong leadership abilities within a multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of diverse ethnic and minority groups, with a gender-inclusive approach to service delivery.
  • Effective communication skills and commitment to professional development through continuous learning.
