This isn’t just any job—it’s an opportunity to be part of the team that ensures our fleet is safe, reliable, and always ready to connect communities across the North. From driving trains within the depot to maintaining our rolling stock, you’ll play a pivotal role in keeping our operations on track.

  • Supporting Depot Operations: Preparing and marshalling vehicles for their next journey, including coupling and reforming vehicles.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness: Replenishing train interiors, filling toilet header tanks, and ensuring vehicles are presentable and passenger-ready.
  • Pitching in as a Team Player: Taking on tasks like forklift driving (if trained), washing vehicle exteriors, and assisting teammates when needed.

Are You:

  • A Team Player? Collaborating effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth depot operations and clear communication.
  • Technically Skilled? Whether you’re experienced with mechanical/electrical systems or eager to learn, your practical skills are crucial.
  • Organised and Detail-Oriented? Ensuring records are up to date and tasks meet high standards.
  • Flexible and Adaptable? Ready to embrace the dynamic nature of depot life, where no two days are the same.
  • Qualified and Ready? Holding a valid UK driving licence and willing to undertake safety-critical training.

No Train-Driving Experience? No Problem!

We offer comprehensive training to take you from the classroom to the cab in just 5-8 weeks. Following this, you’ll spend up to six months at our TrainCare Centres, where expert guidance will help you progress. With ongoing assessments and support, we’ll ensure you’re on the right track for a fulfilling career.
